My handwoven items can be found online (see my website www.veronicapock.com and Etsy shop, see link in bio!), and I sell in person locally in The Hague, Leiden and Amsterdam at markets and independent galleries and shops under the name VeronicaWEAVES. I love to be able to talk to people about my work, what has inspired it and the process involved, and to engage people with textiles and how they are made. This Saturday I will be at my children’s school fair; it’s lovely to have this personal connection. If you’re in The Hague, why not come along? Scroll across for details. #meetthemakerweek with @joannehawker #buyhandmade #woventextiles #weaver #weaversofinstagram #slowdesign #contemporarycraft #warpandweft #loomweaving #handwoven #makersmovement #sustainable #naturalfibres #designermaker #lovedclotheslast #etsymaker #veronicaweaves #smallbusiness
Process: each woven item begins with the initial inspiration. I explore the colours and textures using mixed media on paper first before choosing the yarns and the weave pattern. I have a number of different patterns I’ve developed over the years, and am constantly exploring more. The warp is made up on the warping frame, and then put onto the loom, threading each individual warp thread through a heddle and then a reed. The actual weaving is the end of a long design and preparation process. Once off the loom, the woven fabric is washed twice and then trimmed and checked. So when people ask ‘how long does it take to make a scarf?’ I find it impossible to say! Days, months, years? But to hold a completely unique woven piece of fabric is THE most satisfying feeling. #meetthemakerweek with @joannehawker #buyhandmade #woventextiles #weaver #weaversofinstagram #slowdesign #contemporarycraft #warpandweft #loomweaving #handwoven #makersmovement #sustainable #naturalfibres #designermaker #lovedclotheslast #etsymaker #veronicaweaves #smallbusiness
As well as scarves, I also design and weave cushions and woven art. Aiming for zero waste, the samples I weave are used up to make smaller items, purses, buttons and pin brooches, all sold under the name VeronicaWEAVES. #meetthemakerweek with @joannehawker #buyhandmade #woventextiles #weaver #weaversofinstagram #slowdesign #contemporarycraft #warpandweft #loomweaving #handwoven #makersmovement #sustainable #naturalfibres #designermaker #lovedclotheslast #etsymaker #veronicaweaves #smallbusiness

It’s Indie Friday with @justacard, encouraging people to support independent creatives and businesses. I’m planning to shop indie this festive season. Are you? Here’s a selection of items available in my Etsy shop (link in bio). All handwoven and made by me in my studio in The Hague using quality materials and traditional craft skills. #justacard #justacardweek #indieweek #justacardindieweek #indieweek2019 #makersformakers #supporthandmade #buyhandmade #buylesschoosewell #woventextiles #weaver #weaversofinstagram #slowdesign #contemporarycraft #warpandweft #loomweaving #handwoven #makersmovement #sustainable #naturalfibres #designermaker #lovedclotheslast #etsymaker #veronicaweaves #smallbusiness
